No terceiro episódio de Yalla, escutamos o testemunho de Amani Makki, palestiniana de Gaza. Começa no Lisbon Building - um edifício com o nome de uma cidade distante, construído pelo sogro após uma visita a Lisboa e destruído por soldados israelitas que se filmaram a rir com a explosão e publicaram o vídeo nas redes sociais - e atravessa o genocídio transmitido em direto a partir de outubro de 2023.
Amani perdeu a mãe, o pai, a irmã e o irmão, e carrega a memória de tudo o que Israel tentou apagar: a casa, as árvores, as ruas, os nomes. A frase que o pai lhe deixou é bússola: “O teu filho tem de saber a verdade antes de tudo ficar falso.”

In the third episode of Yalla, we listen to the testimony of Amani Makki, a Palestinian woman from Gaza. It begins with the Lisbon Building - a structure named after a distant city, built by her father-in-law after a visit to Lisbon, and later destroyed by Israeli soldiers who filmed themselves laughing as they blew it up and posted the video online - and unfolds through the genocide broadcast live from October 2023 onwards.
Amani lost her mother, father, sister, and brother. She carries the memory of everything Israel tried to erase: the house, the trees, the streets, the names. The words her father left her serve as a compass: “Your son must know the truth before everything becomes false.”
In this conversation, we talk about life under blockade and exile, about intimate and collective grief, about how occupation turns every daily gesture into an act of resistance - and about the courage to keep giving when everything has been taken away. Because as long as someone tells the story, the truth still breathes.
