The early 1990s brought many storms to the WWF/E and things really escalated in 1992. In the first part of our spotlight on the scandals which engulfed the #wwe in 1992 we look at the Steriod scandal. Wax has been promising this for a while and we are finally here as part of our late 1992 timeline!
In this episode, Wax and Fash provide the backstory of the historic steroid controversy and how the trial of a certain Dr George Zahorian would rock the foundations of #wwe and bring mainstream attention on Vince McMahon and his roster, including of course his biggest star Hulk Hogan (damn that Arsenio Hall interview is still cringeworthy!)
In late 1991/early 1992, only hardcore wrestling fans knew about what was going on but soon enough the media coverage would explode and by the autumn of 1992 the impact of this situation would be very visible on screen too, as mainstay wrestlers of the 1980s and early 90s vanished from the roster. A very different #wwe was emerging and this was just the beginning of Vince McMahon's steroids related struggles!
