Each week I discuss itineraries, travel hacks, money-saving tips, and practical advice, all recorded during a 14-month family trip to Europe and Southeast Asia. Each show is a travel guide for a place we visited. Now that we are back home in the States, the episodes are less frequent, but I will try to keep the travel content coming for 2024 and will have some flashback episodes in case you missed Vietnam, Turkey, Thailand, Spain, Czech Republic, Italy, England, Iceland, Sweden, and others during the first airing.

Westerners need all the help they can get when traveling to this majority Muslim country.  In this episode, I cover the basics to get you ready for a trip to Turkey.

We first will cover the food, from Adana Kebabs, to Lamuchans, to Gozlemes, and what are Pides?  Are mezzelers a good idea?

Then the drinking culture.  These people are crazy about their black “Turk Cay” (pronounced “Chai”).  Alcohol is consumed sparingly here, but we cover the basics:  Beer, wine, Raki, of course.

Driving in Turkey is pretty easy, but there are some pitfalls and things you should know just like driving in any foreign country.

What is the tipping culture?  Public transportation?  What are the best places to visit?  Is communication a problem?  We will cover it all this week, plus a bonus point on the safety of Turkey in lieu of Bloopers.

If you want to play the currency markets, but don’t want to open a foreign bank account, WTD highly recommends Wise service.  Click on the link below to find out more and buy some Euros or other currency.  When you need the Euros for that next trip, they’ll be there, and you’ve bought when the dollar was strong.
