This episode features Elizabeth Moses, a Machinist and powerhouse promoter of women in trades. She was recently recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s 100 most powerful women. She has is a mental health Ambassador for the local chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association, an Ambassador to First Robotics and is one of this year’s, St. Clair College, Alumni of Distinction.
After moving from South Sudan when she was 5 years old, Elizabeth Moses knew she wanted to make a change in her community and be a mentor for other young girls. Her participation in community events, including Build a Dream, has given her the opportunity to share her story and talk to young girls about how she got started as a general machinist apprentice. Since completing a pre-apprenticeship program, Elizabeth has been working at Windsor Mold Group as a 2nd year apprentice.
Elizabeth shares her journey of what attracted her to working in the skilled trades, her plans to keep encouraging women to join the trades in Windsor-Essex, how she got involved with First Robotics how has it shaped her as a STEM advocate, and much more. We also finish off with some fun rapid-fire questions!
