Founders of Radix & Chair of Automate Canada: Shelley Fellows

Welcome to the St. Clair College Women in STEM speaker series Podcast, brought to you by the Genesis Entrepreneurship Centre, located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

This episode features Shelley Fellows, one of the founders of Radix (now AIS Technologies Group) and Chair of Automate Canada. Shelley is a graduate of the University of Windsor, and was part of the management team which led Radix to be recognized as one of the Profit’s Fastest Growing Companies in Canada in 2006 and 2016.  The company received Product Innovation Awards in 2007 & 2015 from the Windsor Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards, and was acquired by mold-making leaders, Active Industrial Solutions, in 2016.

Shelley was recognized in 2019 as one of the “Canadians to Watch in the Automotive Industry” by Automotive News and was a 2016 recipient of the Athena award for her work supporting women in science, technology, engineering & math careers.  Shelley has had positions on many boards and committees, including WETech Alliance, Workforce Windsor Essex, Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation and the Windsor Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce.  Shelley is the Chair of the Automate Canada industry association and is on the leadership council for ProsperUs, a regional “cradle to career” transformation initiative.   Shelley is also Co-Chair of the Leamington Community Working Group and is on the “Automation & Robotics Advisory Board” for the NGEN supercluster.

Shelley shares her journey of what attracted her to the technology space in the first place, what unique lens women bring to automotive, how she sees women playing an important role in the car of the future, and much more. We also finish off with some fun rapid-fire questions!

Tune in to hear more about Shelley’s story including:

  • How we can better integrate a more diverse and inclusive industry as we transition to the next iteration of automotive
  • How community involvement and networking have impacted her in becoming a leader in her field
  • Hobbies and routines that help maintain a positive work-life balance
  • What she wishes she could tell 19-year-old Shelley now
