GIZ: Green People's Energy

Green People's Energy is a GIZ program, which provides grant financing up to €200,000. They focus on Green Energy Solutions (think: solar-powered milk chilling or Solar Home Systems). They focus on projects in the countries of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia.

Green People's Energy has two funding schemes: the Small Projects Fund for non-profits and the Challenge Fund for any type of organization. They also require at least a 3-year track record and 20% cofinancing. They are looking to fund 35 organizations so from a GrantROI prespective applicants have a pretty good shot at being selected. They also have an alumni network for Africans studying in Germany who want to connect with these organizations

Check out their website to apply for the small projects fund (https://gruene-buergerenergie.org/en/get-involved/small-projects-fund/) or the Challenge Call (https://gruene-buergerenergie.org/en/get-involved/challenge-call/)

While you’re listening think of any questions you might have because you have an opportunity to ask at the end.
