The Women In Radiology Education, or WIRED, podcast was created with our group’s mission in mind: empowering, supporting, and inspiring women. We intend to interview women in all stages of the path to a career in radiology—young ladies interested in STEM, medical students, residents, academic attendings, and community practitioners—and share their insight and wisdom with our listeners in hopes of ultimately reducing the overall disparity regarding women in radiology.

Dr. Elizabeth K. Arleo is a Board-Certified radiologist specializing in Breast and Body Imaging, and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR), the Society of Breast Imaging (FSBI), and the American Association for Women in Radiology (FAAWIR). She is a Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Radiologist at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Arleo also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the radiology journal Clinical Imaging and was the 2019 American Association for Women in Radiology (AAWR) President. A graduate of Yale College and Yale University Medical School, Dr. Arleo brings many experiences and accolades to the table, including the Distinguished Educator Award from the 2018 New York Roentgen Society and the 2022 Alice Ettinger Distinguished Achievement Award. In this podcast, Dr. Arleo shares her insights on reframing one’s relationship with time to align with one’s priorities, the strategic importance of pre-meeting meetings to gain support for ideas, and the bidirectional benefits of mentorship. Tune in to learn more about her distinguished career, her leadership roles, and her practical advice for aspiring radiologists and professionals aiming to make an impact in the field.
