Dr. Aparna Singhal is a board-certified neuroradiologist and Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she has served in various leadership roles, including Neuroradiology Section Chief and Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Singhal has established herself as both a clinical leader and a passionate advocate for women in medicine.
In this episode, she shares more about her work as a children's author, having written what may be the first children's book dedicated entirely to radiology - "ABCs of Radiology for Kids" - and how her identities as a radiologist, mother, and creative person intersect to fill this important gap in children's literature. Dr. Singhal discusses her advocacy work for women in medicine, including pioneering the inaugural session for women in neuroradiology at the ASNR 2022 conference and her involvement with organizations such as AAWR, WIMS, and AMWA. She also shares her thoughts on career transitions, stepping into leadership roles, and how to maintain creative expression in academic medicine.
