According to Seneca, if there's one thing to be avoided, it would be large gatherings of people, better known as crowds. He even believes that those with supreme moral integrity like Socrates or Cato would succumb to a crowd that was unlike them. Instead of hanging with the crowd, Seneca advises Lucilius to find someone whom he can improve as well as those who can help improve him.
