STEM Career Paths: Mechanical Engineering

“I am a Mechanical Engineer, Not a Mechanic”. If you didn’t know, there is a BIG difference between the two. Mechanical engineers are problem solvers who apply their skills to design, develop, build, and test all sorts of mechanical devices, tools, engines, and machines in just about every type of industry. They’re ranked among the top 10 fields nationally for employment and projected to have employment growth of nearly 140,000 new jobs over the next decade.

In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Abdur-Rahman Quadri, Mechanical Engineer by day and photographer by night! Rahman works as a Mechanical Engineer at Engenium Group. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park. Tune in as Rahman describes the profession of a Mechanical Engineer, important skills to have, and how to get into the field!
