Many, many towns claim William “Buffalo Bill” Cody as their own hometown boy. Golden was where he was finally laid to rest when he passed in 1917. There were rumors that he had asked to be buried in Wyoming and those requests were denied, so a small group of people claim to have taken it into their own hands to make sure the town bearing his name, Cody, WY, would be his final resting place.
