In a nutshell, WIDLIMS is a platform for discussing topics crucial to health which are not taught, glossed over or approached from the wrong angles in medicine and public discourse. The host Linda's knowledge – as a final year medical student – combined with valuable input from guests provides you with accessible and most importantly empowering evidence-based information on topics within the field of lifestyle medicine.
In addition, you can expect in-depth mental health discussions, for example when considering body image & disordered eating in diet culture, as well as health inequalities due to variables such as race & gender which affect health behaviours and outcomes. We'll also discuss specific health conditions such as acne, anxiety and anorexia.

Anti-diet lifestyle approaches to PCOS with Dr Nitu Bajekal
Show notes here.
In this week's episode we talk about PCOS to Dr Nitu Bajekal, a consultant gynaecological surgeon with over 35 years' experience in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. Typically people with PCOS are told to restrict their food and carbohydrate intake and lose weight as a first-line management. We go beyond that, exploring what PCOS is, less commonly known manifestations (such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders), how the right foods can address metabolic and hormonal imbalances as well as the role of soya in people's health.
PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome, and there is plenty of evidence in favour for a balanced whole food plant-based dietary ('vegan') pattern. Find all references and an article in the show notes on lindadoes.com/widlims13.
