I did all the right things to prevent getting cancer. A certified health coach, nutritionist & wellness speaker, I thought I’d be the last person to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. 136. What I Learned in September... I Am Cancer Free!
I've been avoiding my "final" surveillance oncology appointment. Why was I avoiding it? I wish I had a good answer for you. I was a little scared; I'd felt a weird lump in one of my breasts and experienced some pain in the other breast. As I drove to my appointment with my husband, a Bible verse from James came to mind. Count it ALL joy when facing various trials. Really? Would I have JOY while sitting in my oncologist's office? I don't think so. How do we "count it all joy" when we don't know what the outcome will be? I guess that's the point. Growing in our faith and persevering, even when we don't know the outcome, is how we grow in character. Do you ever feel like you have enough character, haha! Can I take a character break for a few months? After what seemed to be the longest oncology appointment of my life, after the exam, my doctor got a big smile on her face and said, You Are Good. Followed by, "if you want to check in with me again, you can, or we never have to see each other again". As much as I like you, I'm choosing not to see you again! Here are my four key takeaways on finding joy in the face of challenges. It's about choosing an attitude of faith rather than suppressing sorrow.   God uses trials to strengthen and test our faith.   Enduring trials build patience and lead to a more complete faith.   True joy comes from trusting in God's sovereignty and knowing He is working for our spiritual growth.   Trust me, I'm still a work in progress. ______ Body Deli Why I love the Phoenix Lift Oil from Body Deli: Botanical Powerhouses for Deep Nourishment In addition to its scientifically advanced components, Phoenix Lift Face & Neck Oil features a curated blend of nutrient-dense, natural oils: Sea Buckthorn Oil: Rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants, it promotes skin regeneration and combats free radical damage.
