I did all the right things to prevent getting cancer. A certified health coach, nutritionist & wellness speaker, I thought I’d be the last person to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. My sleep habits started to change in my 40s. Then came my 50s, and my sleep got even worse.
What changed in my life? Hormones, stress levels, menopause, and, oh yes, cancer.:(
However, I recorded a podcast with Dr. Henry Ealy, and the direction of our conversation surprised me. He started discussing the importance of connecting with the Earth on a daily basis. I consider myself a crunchy gal, but even I found myself rolling my eyes at that!
I also know that being outside has never failed to lift my spirits and lower my stress levels.
I never knew that going outside barefoot was called Earthing or Grounding.
I admit, these words sound a bit "woo-woo" to me. And then, I found a research study that discussed the importance of physical connection with the Earth.
Why, you ask?
The Earth carries an electric charge. This negative charge can then be absorbed by the body (which is beneficial), and studies have shown that it can help improve sleep quality, reduce inflammation, and even lower stress levels.

Ground Luxe
These are the grounding sheets that Dr. Ealy mentioned on the episode:
On today's episode, Dr. Ealy shared that he has become a great sleeper, partly thanks to grounding sheets.
After my skepticism passed, my desperation to sleep took over. I began reading articles and discovered that the science is solid. Studies have shown that participants who use grounding sheets experience a significant decrease in cortisol levels, resulting in improved sleep quality and reduced stress.
What did I have to lose? I researched, found the best grounding sheets on the market for the best price, and bought them.
It took me a few nights, but I sleep much more deeply now. I fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed! I wish someone had told me about these sheets years ago.

The owner of Ground Luxe told me, "that if you are taking blood pressure or thyroid medication, you should alert your doctor that you are using grounding sheets, since grounding can normalize these issues, so you may have to reduce medication dosage.”
