I did all the right things to prevent getting cancer. A certified health coach, nutritionist & wellness speaker, I thought I’d be the last person to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. 122. Own Your Bubble. Learning how to protect your peace.
But At Least You Got A Free Boob Job.
Are you surprised that people said this to me during my cancer journey?
I was so surprised and, quite honestly, saddened.
My first reaction was, 'We can't be friends anymore,' but what about the family members who said that to me?!
I had to learn to have GRACE for people. People say dumb things in an attempt to make you laugh or because of their anxiety.
Grace is challenging, but it also helps you manage your expectations of others, which can lead to deeper, more meaningful relationships.
I was moved by today's episode with Michelle Patidar, nutrition and recovery coach and cancer survivor. She lost half her body weight and all her hair during chemo and radiation. She said she was a shell of her former self, and yet, she ended up trying to make her loved ones "feel better during HER journey" by encouraging them.
That's a burden none of us were meant to bear.
We also discussed our daily habits. Michelle believes that cancer prevention or recovery is a daily choice made BY YOU. We need to ask ourselves throughout the day, how does this habit serve me?
Bonus Tip: Consider how you feel about spending time with the people in your life. After spending time with them, do they make you feel encouraged or discouraged?
