Trigger warning: child sexual abuse
*stats from Rape Crisis UK, National Crime Agency and IWF
The prevalence of child sexual abuse is far greater than any of us would like to believe or know. And with kids being given devices and internet access at such young ages now, the predators and paedophiles have easier and more frequent access to our kids. Whilst the very real risks of our kids being exploited online and sexully abused are high, there are things we can do and protective measures we can put in place as parents and teachers to safeguard and prepare our kids.
Joining host Jennie on todays episode is former child abuse detective Kristi McVee. Kristi is now a child abuse educator, author and the Founder of CAPE AU. She knows better than anyone what the realities are around child sexual abuse and its prevalence. Jennie and Kristi openly and candidly discuss the risks devices and internet access present to our kids, who the sexual predators/paedophiles are statistically, and what the indicators are that your child may be being groomed or already a victim of sexual abuse.
This is an episode that every parent and educator/teacher needs to listen to... our children's safety, physical and mental health, development and futures depend on us knowing more, and doing better.
