The Doctor encounters River Song again and this time she’s married…to someone else.
A man named Nardole tells The Doctor he’s needed to save someone’s life. Before finding out who, he meets River and believes she is joking when she doesn’t recognize him. She needs him to save the love of her life, her husband Hydroflax. He is the tyrant leader of billions of people and happens to have a diamond lodged in his head.
River’s in a quest to get the diamond even if it means taking Hydroflax’s head…literally. The Doctor slowly realizes that River doesn’t recognize him. Annoyed and a little hurt, he still joins River to retrieve the diamond. He wants to protect her and keep dropping hints that he is not just a doctor but The Doctor, HER Doctor.
