Bringing forth another unconventional story in the second episode of Whips&Chains, our host Nivedita Mishra sits down to have a conversation with Sunil Jaglan, an unlikely champion of women's rights in a deeply patriarchal society.
Sunil, a crusader for changing the entrenched attitudes about rural women recounts his journey from being a village headman to now being a staunch supporter of women empowerment.
A delivery room epiphany after the birth of his daughter transformed him into a highly successful campaigner against pre-natal sex testing that not only increased the sex ratio of his village in the entire state of Haryana but also put it in the first place.
With dozens of his 100 campaigns being adopted as policies by the government, Sunil is headstrong at creating a world devoid of patriarchy, gender biases, and privileges.
Breaking conventions and promoting a liberal mindset, this conversation is a reminder for all of us that change starts at home and that a small initiative can revamp the entire social structure that has been blindly followed for ages!
