WGRL (Where Girl Radio Lives) is our all girl-powered online radio station and podcast series based out of The Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York, in NYC. Trained in the art of radio journalism and engineering by professionals in the field, led by Kelly Webb of the Sweet Spot and Jeannie Hopper of Liquid Sound Lounge and WBAI, our young reporters cover a wide variety of stories. WGRL produces regular podcasts and interviews with celebrities, community activists, musicians, politicians, fashionistas and powerful women in just about every walk of life. We’ve covered events as varied as the Halloween Dog Parade at Tompkins Square Park, National Record Store Day and the Women’s Herstory event at New York City Hall.

Our goal in the WGRL studio is to tell our stories through the skills and mediums we are gaining proficiency in and in turn share these stories with the world!

We celebrate! Live at our streamed Block Party direct from our glorious Frequency Garden pop-up studio tent on site at Girls Club. Joy! Power! Possibility!
Join our  streamers, artists and dreamers from Lower East Side Girls Club, Public Assistants and MoMA on a journey through Frequency Garden! A Dream Lab of curated conversations, music and art to drive culture and enact positive change. Made by teens for everyone. Creators, disruptors, and catalysts welcome! This is the intro of a four part series that is also on exhibit at PS1/MoMA as part of a collaboration with artist Don Christian Jones. 

Frequency Gardens was made by youth participants at the Lower Eastside Girls Club: Rebekah Kwong, Sierra Zwerling, Meelawn Mathurin, Zoe “Z” Rosado, Lelia “Lilo” Haidara, Nevaeh “Rae” McGee, Tentse Sherpa, and Aliana Aviles; Lower Eastside Girls Club facilitators Sienna Fekete and Kelly Webb; logistics support Erikka James, artists DonChristian Jones, Jake Robbins, and Danica Pantic from Public Assistants; and Hannah Fagin, from MoMA.
