This week Jeremy takes over the mic and leads the way on the adventure that is empty nesting. It has come time in his life where all his little birdies have flown the coop, so so speak. All of Jeremy's biological children no longer live with us, two of them have stepped into adulting, the other one lives full-time in another state. A couple weeks ago his oldest moved out on his own and has been the last to fly the nest.
Jeremy gives you some insight on how it has been for him going through the process of empty nesting, while we still have my three boys living with us. This dynamic is unique, the emotions may be similar to normal empty nesting, but like most things, we do a lot of things different.
Have you become an empty nester? Do you have a blended family where some of the kids have moved out, but not all? We would love to hear your experiences when it's come to empty nesting.
On our podcast, we talk about many topics related to adulting and parenting over 40. We sometimes have special guests like Time with Ty, who talked about self-care, or my sibling who talked about chronic pain today. We figure out things like budgets, what our menu will be for the week, planning and dealing with emergency financial decisions and/or repairs. I talk to my boys about responsibilities and how we divide up chores, you know the really important things like unloading the dishwasher and cutting the grass.
We have a blended family, so we discuss some of the challenges we face with bonus kids and navigating some of the blended family dynamics. There is always chaos, always. We have fun and laugh while we figure out the things in our lives. We hope that we help you figure some things out in your life as well. This is our way of hanging out with you, hoping that you get a few laughs, and figure we all figure out life in the process.
