Welcome to We Did It Podcast! The phrase "We Did It" shatters the idea that we are alone on our journey. Our successes (and even failures) are not achieved alone. In the We Did It Podcast we focus on the life stories behind the victories and failures of creative people. I believe everyone on this planet has creative tendencies but sometimes we feel shut off from our creativity. I want to talk about how to keep your creative channel open while laughing through some relatable topics. We are all the main characters in our story but that doesn't mean we are alone while we create our lives.

11. Practicing Self-Compassion and Holistic Approaches to Minimizing Daily Stress | ft. Justine Dowd, PhD

Have you ever practiced self-compassion? If you're anything like me, you've felt that it's easier to be compassionate towards a family member or a friend versus yourself. Today we sit down with Justine Dowd, PhD and talk all things self-compassion meditation and stress management. Justine gives us some insight on her app MyHealthyGut in which she co-founded to help make digestive health easier to navigate after being diagnosed with celiac disease. And for all of you creatives out there, we also cover some actionable practices that can help inspire a creative day and set you up for success in the area of productivity.

Below I've pulled some passages from Justine's website so you can learn a little more about her health journey and her career background! Thank you Justine for taking part in this episode of WE DID IT! You can find Justine on https://www.justinedowd.ca/

Wholistic Insights for Whole Health

Justine Dowd empowers her clients with a wholistic approach to chronic disease management. Focused on the importance of self-compassion and physical activity, Justine offers gut health strategies and fertility support to effectively enhance each client’s quality of life.

More About Justine

My passion for gut health all began with a diagnosis of celiac disease, just as I was beginning my PhD. After enduring a number of ups and downs, including additional complications from hashimotos hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome, and infertility struggles, I realized that all my health issues were rooted in the same place -- my gut.

It became my mission to not only optimize my own gut health,
but to empower others as well.

Working in collaboration with other health experts, I am committed to helping people take a holistic well-rounded approach to personal wellness with educational gut health seminars, as well as fertility support seminars (coming soon). I also co-created the MyHealthyGut app, which makes it easy for any individual to improve their general digestive health, in addition to providing evidence-based tips and tools for managing celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
