Welcome to the podcast where author Paul Burston invites guests to pay tribute to the people who've inspired them and helped shape their lives.
Today's guest is DJ and best-selling author of I Don't Take Requests, Fat Tony.
A clubland legend since the 1980s, Tony nearly died of an AIDS-related illness and battled with drug addiction before going into rehab in 2006.
We last met in person when artist Mark Wardel aka Trademark showcased portraits of us both as part of his exhibition Scene - A-Listers, Heroes and Heroines at La Galleria in 2010.
Since then, Tony's life has changed immeasurably. He DJs all over the world, knows everyone from Madonna to Elton John and the Beckhams and counts Boy George and Kate Moss among his friends.
Among his heroes are singer-songwriter and personal friend George Michael and trailblazing 'stately homo' Quentin Crisp.
Tony's frank, witty memoir I Don't Take Requests became a Sunday Times bestseller and is available now from all good bookshops.

Paul Burston's memoir We Can Be Heroes will be published in June 2023 and is available to pre-order now
