World War II is represented in the U.S. as a “Good War,” a war in which Allied powers, especially Americans, were the good guys fighting the incomprehensible evil of Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan to save others. "War, What is it Good For? World War 2 on Film" is a college class's collaborative effort examining popular World War 2 movies in relation to this "Good War" myth. Episode 6 Jojo Rabbit, Satire, and Nazi Germany

In our final episode, Lilla and Julianna discuss the 2019 comedy Jojo Rabbit, in which a young boy in Hitler's Army in Nazi Germany slowly realizes that his mother is hostile to the Nazi regime and is hiding a young Jewish girl in their home. They suggest that as it satirizes Nazi Germany, the movie also reinforces the popular conception of World War 2 as a Good War.
