Wolfson is a renowned scholar of Jewish mysticism, philosophy of religion, and comparative mysticism. Widely regarded as the leading scholarly interpreter of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Wolfson has significantly reshaped contemporary understandings of Jewish esotericism.
In addition to his academic writing, Wolfson is also a poet and visual artist, with several published volumes of poetry and a gallery exhibition. He served as founding editor of the Journal of Jewish Thought and Philosophy and remains an influential voice in the study of religion and mysticism.
