Episode 33: Comparing Adverse Events in Hip Replacement

In this episode Dr. Deborah Marshall and Karen MacDonald discuss how the lack of consistent outcomes, adverse event definitions and non-standardized measures challenges their ability to compare outcomes between total hip replacement and a newer technology called hip resurfacing.   After listening to this podcast listeners will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of being critical when reviewing the literature
  • Make valid comparisons by using standardized, comparative outcomes
  • Evaluate the need of joint replacement registries
