Episode 4 | Dr. Jack Carson

Dr. Jack Carson was born and raised in Yuma, Arizona. He is an assistant professor of management at the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University, where he teaches organizational behavior at the undergraduate level and Leadership, Groups, and Teams at the master's level. He enjoys helping students think through the "hows" and "whys" of organizational work life.

Jack's research interests include workplace interpersonal mistreatment, attribution theory, deviance, and social exchange. He has published numerous articles in reputable journals, such as Group & Organization Management, Sustainability, and Journal of Management. His notable works explore topics like destructive voice responses to perceived unfairness, the effectiveness of organizational sustainability messaging, and the predictors of workplace deviance.

Jack holds a BS in accountancy and an MBA from Northern Arizona University, and a PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Auburn University. Though he is not originally from North Carolina, he got here as fast as he could.

In addition to his academic endeavors, Jack enjoys hiking, biking, and cooking with his partner, Kendra, who manages the micro- and molecular biology labs at Appalachian State University.

Additionally, here is his Google Scholar Page if you would like to explore his works, and here is the paper that was referenced in the podcast: Sekiguchi, T., & Huber, V. L. (2011). The use of person-organization fit and person–job fit information in making selection decisions. Organizational behavior and human decision processes, 116(2), 203-216.
