Dr. Yalcin Acikgoz is both a professor and alumnus of Industrial-Organizational (IO) Psychology at Appalachian State University. With a Ph.D. in IO Psychology from Middle East Technical University and a rich background in systems engineering from the Turkish Military Academy, Dr. Acikgoz brings a multifaceted perspective to our discussion. His academic journey is marked by significant contributions to understanding applicant decision-making processes, social media in recruitment, and personnel security, all while serving as the founder and director of the Applicant Decision-Making Lab.

His professional experience extends beyond academia, including roles as a Manpower Analyst for the Turkish Armed Forces, where he was instrumental in strategic human resource planning and developing simulation software for manpower planning. Dr. Acikgoz's consulting work with organizations like Just Roots Consulting and Black Amethyst, LLC., highlights his expertise in organizational race equity assessment, further showcasing his commitment to applying psychological principles to real-world challenges.

Dr. Acikgoz is passionate about teaching and mentoring students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His courses include Industrial Psychology, Performance Management, Cross-cultural Psychology, and Staffing.
