Voice It Out Podcast with Amrita
Shyama & Amrita
40 episodes
The Voice It Out Podcast with Amrita is a platform created by two British Asian women, Shyama and Amrita. In the first season they looked into topics which were relevant to women and, in particular, British Asian women. In the second season, they attempted to prompt discussions around the split identity, and what it means to be British with a strong influence from ethnic heritage - no matter your gender. Season 3 saw Amrita going solo in front of the camera, talking to guests from different walks of life about their journeys, their mental health and also that all important influence of being part British and part of another culture. Now, scrapping the seasonal format, Amrita will continue these conversations as and when guests come on the podcast, allowing more conversations about experience, life-changing moments, and personal narratives that everone can relate to.

Indy Sira on helping marginalised women find their voice
This week, Shyama and Amrita are joined by Indy Sira, whose work with Voices of Colour UK, seeks to give a voice to the women in the community who find themselves marginalised. She shares her experience working within the communities and highlighting the issues they have and the support they need through the correct channels where their concerns would be heard. Indy also speaks about her own mental health, why she is so passionate about working with people to create change and also how she herself arrived at this strand of work - all conceived and begun during the Covid-19 pandemic. She also talks about how her own background and upbringing had a huge part of play in the work she does now.
