Re-energizing the Transatlantic Relationship
This webinar aims to discuss about challenges and opportunities of the transatlantic energy cooperation – especially regarding natural gas. The discussion will be devoted to market, regulatory and political developments in both regions and how the two shores of the Atlantic can overcome potential frictions. The US-EU energy interdependence has been strengthened since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The European countries had to redesign their supply portfolio as Russia cut off its gas exports. In this unprecedented challenge, the US liquefied natural gas (LNG) became pivotal in providing security of supply to the European Union. However, with the return of Donald Trump to the White House, this interdependence is at the crossroads not only due to growing political disagreements (e.g., tariffs) and diverging regulatory approaches (i.e., methane emissions), but also market uncertainties. Given their extensive expertise on these matters, the speakers will untangle these dimensions and provide key insights on current and future US-EU energy relations.

The webinar is organized thanks to the support of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione Centro Studi sul Federalismo.
