Belonging And Connection For Neurodiverse Families With Jessica Sturino Floyd (Rebroadcast)
I learned to give myself some grace. ~ Jessica Sturino Floyd During this rebroadcast episode Jessica Sturino Floyd shares her struggles as an ADHD mom with neurodiverse children and her realization that community and a sense of belonging are the missing puzzle piece for many neurodiverse families. WE TALK ABOUT ✔️As humans we are meant to be in community with others ✔️The importance of community and a sense of belonging for neurodiverse families ✔️Connecting with others who understand our struggles is vital for ourselves and our neurodiverse children ✔️The sensory gym she’s co-opening to provide belonging and connection to neurodiverse families ………….. GUEST RESOURCES Jessica Sturino Floyd worked in the physical therapy profession for 15 years before becoming a mother of 2 differently wired children. She gave up her career due to a lack of resources available for her autistic son. During this time, she experienced the isolation and emotional struggle that many caregivers of children with disabilities experience, and discovered the importance of community. She became the Facilitator for the Wake County Chapter of the Autism Society of North Carolina to help improve the lives of autistic individuals, help support their families and educate communities. Jessica is the proud co-owner of the We Rock the Spectrum sensory gym in Cary NC providing a fully inclusive and understanding space for our differently abled community to learn and grow together.
