This week Sharpie takes you on a dive into the British Blues Explosion and whilst some bands are well documented, there are a litany of incredible bands that demand to be heard through time that maybe don’t get the recognition they deserve. The British Jimi Hendrix equivalent in Tony McPhee and the Groundhogs are certainly one of those. We use their 4th album Split to explore the historical context of British Blues and its origins, all the way back to Delta blues. It gives us an opportunity to include some quite frankly fantastic tracks from the likes of Ten Years After, Hendrix and Rory Gallagher as points of reference. So I hope you enjoy exploring this aspect of Sharpies musical journey and let us know what you think! #VRPC (PS Sharpie was mistaken with the name of the Champion Jack Dupree album. It was From New Orleans to Chicago. Check it out, it’s brilliant).
