Gary var grunnleggeren av Vineyard i Canada og spilte en viktig rolle i etableringen av Vineyard-bevegelsen i hele Norden. Han jobber nå internasjonalt som rådgiver og coach for ledere både i bedrifter og ideelle organisasjoner. Hans lidenskap har vært, og er, å hjelpe mennesker med å erfare Guds Ånd på en tilgjengelig og praktisk måte.
Gary er gift med Liesl, som er psykolog i Sør-Afrika, som også deler hans lidenskap for reising, ski, sykling, og selvfølgelig en kopp god espresso.
