All three of us are long-time Godzilla fans (we've reviewed some other films in the franchise so be sure to check out those episodes as well) but we have some very differing opinions on "Godzilla" (1998). This time we have an audience pick that's sat on the list for quite a while. Being fans of the writer Robert E. Howard, it's odd that none of the Junkyard boys had seen this one before. So here's our take on the first viewing of this romantic biopic "The Whole Wide World". In this fact-based film set in 1930s Texas, pulp fiction master Robert E. Howard (Vincent D'Onofrio) is introduced to Novalyne Price (Renée Zellweger), a teacher with aspirations of becoming an author herself, and they begin a unique relationship filled with conversation and imagination. Although the possibility exists for romance, Howard's obsession with his work and dedication to his sick mother (Ann Wedgeworth) leads Price to look elsewhere for love, leaving Howard feeling betrayed and alone.

For those who have had the viewing "pleasure" of Tiptoes (2003), you knew we'd eventually be reviewing this one. It truly has to be seen to be believed but maybe you're better off just taking our word for it. Either way, this episode is bound to be a better experience than actually watching Tiptoes, so we have that going for us. Carol falls in love with Steven without knowing much about him. When Carol finds herself pregnant it forces Steven to expose a secret. Steven happens to be the only average-sized person in a family of dwarfs, including his twin brother Rolfe.

We're slowly catching up. This week we present a movie that was more relevant when we recorded it in the dead of winter... but maybe it'll help cool you off this summer. It's 30 Days of Night (2007): In the far Northern Hemisphere, the small town of Barrow, Alaska, experiences a solid month of darkness every year. Though most of the residents head south for the winter, some townspeople remain behind. However, those that stay regret their decision when, one year, hungry vampires descend on Barrow to feed. Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his wife (Melissa George) and a dwindling band of survivors must try to last until dawn breaks over Barrow's monthlong twilight.

One good turn deserves another. This week we review the sequel to the mighty RoboCop (1987), the sequentially titled RoboCop 2 (1990). Cyborg Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is the sole officer on duty after the police force goes on strike against evil conglomerate Omni Consumer Products and its push to foreclose on the city of Detroit. Aside from dealing with the normal level of crime, Murphy must take on crime boss Cain (Tom Noonan), the spread of a dangerous new drug called "Nuke" and the attempt by psychologist Dr. Juliette Faxx (Belinda Bauer) to create another Robocop using a hardened criminal.

This week we finally get to one of our favorite cult classics... RoboCop (1987). In a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit, evil corporation Omni Consumer Products wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. To test their crime-eradicating cyborgs, the company leads street cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) into an armed confrontation with crime lord Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) so they can use his body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. But when RoboCop learns of the company's nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.

This week one of our esteemed audience members picked the gritty sci-fi classic "Outland" (1981) starring the only Sean Connery. This "space western" has been on our watchlist for quite a while, and we're happy to cross it off. Will we be recommending you track down a copy? Listen and find out this week in the Video Junkyard.

This week it's the 2002 adaptation of Brett Easton Ellis's novel "Rules of Attraction". This one is one that Joe and Erik remember liking way back when it was new but it's a first watch for Ryan. Was this a good recommendation or is it a stinker? Rules of Attraction (2002) d. Roger Avary Sean Bateman is a freshman at Camden College, who's in love with Lauren Hyde. She's waiting for her wastrel boyfriend Victor Johnson to come back from a trip around Europe, while Paul Denton, who used to date Lauren, is exploring his bisexual side with a crush on Sean.

It's the Return of the Video Junkyard Podcast... and we're reviewing the Return of everyone's favorite carnivorous fruit. It's Return of the Killer Tomatoes starring John Astin and some no-name TV actor called George Clooney. I'm sure we'll never hear of that guy again. The insane Dr. Gangrene develops a new strain of violent vegetable in this sequel to the 1977 cult classic.
