Hello everyone, I’m Sam the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll dogs and host of Vegas Rock Dog Radio Show. On today’s show, I’m talking about the new data from Mayflower moving company in regards to moving with pets and my own tips for making your move easier on your pets.
My moving tips Fully research before you move. A new vet, parks, pet store, and laws. Collars, tags, and update your chip info. Book your pet-friendly hotels. Get your pet used to its carrier weeks before your move. Place the carrier in your home and let your pet go in and out of it and use treats to associate its use of the carrier as a positive one. Graduate to the car for a few minutes reward and then come back in the house, eventually extending the time in the car and ultimately to driving around. Give food, water, and treats in the car so that it becomes a normal activity. Make sure you have a crash test approved harness or carrier. Use CBD oil as a way to calm your pet prior to the trip. Assign one person to take care of your pet during the loadout. If that person can go and walk the dog all the better. Take frequent breaks on the move. Upon arrival be mindful when introducing your pet to the home. Start with the garden and one room at a time. Do not overload your pet. Make sure your new garden does not have poisonous plants. Get into a routine and use lots of treats so your pet can associate your new home as something positive.
