This week's episode with raw food/fasting guru Loren Lockman:
A cult legend in the raw food/fasting world, Loren Lockman founded Tanglewood Wellness Center in Costa Rica. Unfortunately, after investing his heart, soul, and life into Tanglewood, in early 2025, Loren and Tanglewood suffered devastating financial losses due to theft, hacking, and general misanthropy, and Tanglewood is no longer in operation. Loren, however, is still very much in action, and I serendipitously got to connect with him in person here in Nashville, Tennessee.
Loren’s story is tragic, riveting, and a real-life testament to the fact that you never know what’s round the corner – and material things can be lost in an instant, as I learned firsthand when 1.28 Bitcoin was stolen from my Coinbase account after I was recruited for a legal project with companies Bit-x-Bit, Ascent Data, and supposedly top-tier law firm Morgan Lewis, and tech support company Ascent Data remote-accessed my computer to (ostensibly) help with a tech issue. Like Loren, I also learned at a new level that what can’t be taken is your values, your integrity, and your commitment to what truly matters – and of course that no level of material loss compares to the suffering that non-human animals are experiencing by the billions and trillions around the world, at this very moment, courtesy of our so-called "food" system.
