Tinka Tinka Foundation started prison radio in the state of Haryana in 2021. As a part of this initiative, in December 2020, 21 inmates were selected for a special training programme by Dr. Vartika Nanda, Founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation. They were mentored to become RJs in the newly established radio stations inside jail premises as a part of this training. Over the past one year, at least 70 talented and well-deserving inmates have been trained in Haryana under Dr. Vartika Nanda. First jail radio in Haryana was launched by Ranjit Singh, Jail Minister, Government of Haryana, Rajeev Arora, IAS, ACS Home and K. Selvaraj, IPS, Director General of Prisons. Prison Radio is further extending with the support of Mohammad Akil, IPS, DG, Prisons, Haryana,. Conceptualised by Vartika Nanda, Tinka Tinka Foundation and its radio series in jails have left an indelible mark in the lives of inmates. Based on the well-acclaimed Tinka Model of Prison Reforms, the jail radio movement has helped inmates receive happiness and positivity in their day-to-day life while also imparting crucial life lessons and constructive skills like writing and composing rhythmic songs, and managing the radio stations as technicians, composers and musicians. Tinka Tinka is a movement that is touching lives of inmates. Tinka Tinka is also credited for establishing exclusive awards for inmates and jail staff- Tinka Tinka India Awards and Tinka Tinka Bandini Awards.
