Panipat Jail Radio celebrates its first anniversary. First Prison Radio in the state was inaugurated by Shri Ranjit Singh, Jail Minister, Shri Rajeev Arora, IAS, ACS Home, Shri K. Selvaraj, IPS, Director General of Prisons, Shri Devi Dayal, Superintendent, District Jail, Panipat and Vartika Nanda, Founder, Tinka Tinka Foundation. Haryana has already launched 7 prison radios in the state. These are being supported by Shri Mohammad Akil, IPS, DG, Prisons, Haryana.

Prison Radio in Haryana is the brainchild of prison reformer Vartika Nanda. She heads Department of Journalism in Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. Her Tinka Tinka movement has been working for bringing prison radios in different parts of the country. She was conferred Stri Shakti Award by the President of India in 2014.
