ASSOCHAM DECARBONIZATION SUMMIT

ASSOCHAM, the premier industrial chamber with 4.5 lac members, has been serving the nation since 1920. ASSOCHAM's aim is to empower Indian businesses by instilling knowledge that will serve as a catalyst for growth in the barrier-free, technology-driven global market, assisting them to upscale, align, and emerge as strong players in their respective business areas. ASSOCHAM has been working with industry members on several projects, being committed to enhancing the business ecosystem in order to establish a stronger nation.

Decarbonizing the industrial sector, which currently accounts for 30% of all domestic GHG emissions, is a critical component to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Delivering a sustainable energy system for the future will require collaboration and action from across the energy, business, and government ecosystems. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an immediate industrial decarbonization including advancement in GHG reduction by transitioning to low carbon or zero carbon energy system.

With this fact as the key context, The Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in collaboration with State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Government of Odisha held a stirring gathering in Bhubaneswar on September 30th 2022, 0930 hrs, at Hotel Hindustan International (HHI), to commemorate "The Industrial Decarbonization Summit 2022 – A Roadmap to Net Zero 2030”.

All eminent personalities from across the nation from academia, administration, policy makers, industry associates, environmentalists, journalists, inventors, innovators and startups were invited in the forum for spreading a vision of a low carbon future throughout the country in order to spur action, inspire change, and amp up a range of key perspectives in the race to reach net-zero emissions.

The Summit consciously focused upon and addressed a wide range of research topics, including, but not limited to, decarbonization, managing climate change, policy issues, and sustainability. Due to the urgent need for academics, researchers, regulatory bodies, policymakers, industry, business, concerned government departments, and the general public to exchange knowledge and expertise regarding the climate in order to learn from one another and find cutting-edge technologies/best practices.
