„The Heat Is On“ oder “The Boys Of Summer”, nur zwei Beispiele für Soloerfolge von Glenn Frey und Don Henley in den 80er Jahren. Beide bemühten sich, mit der Musik der Zeit Schritt zu halten. Frey gelingt es mit fröhlichen Liedern in Motown-Tradition, Henley verbindet Zeit und Konsumkritik mit seinen Liedern. Don Henley erreichte dauerhafte Anerkennung und Verkaufserfolge, Frey versuchte sich nebenbei auch als Schauspieler, zum Beispiel bei „Miami Vice“. Lange Zeit schien eine erneute Zusammenarbeit mit den Eagles ausgeschlossen zu sein. Aber gelegentliche Treffen bei Ehrungen und Millionengebote für eine Reunion brachten die Dinge ins Rollen. 1994 kamen die Eagles zunächst wieder für eine ausgedehnte Tour und dann sogar für ein weiteres Album zusammen. Die Spannungen waren nicht alle vergessen, aber die Musik hielt doch die Kerntruppe um Henley und Frey zusammen. Glenn Frey starb 2016, das Ende der Eagles war das allerdings nicht. Noch in diesem Jahr 2025 werden sie zahlreiche Konzerte spielen, mit Sicherheit gefeiert und umjubelt von ihrem treuen Publikum.
