Martin Laurello was born in 1885 in Nuremburg, Germany. He was born with a crooked spine that gave him the unique ability to twist his head just enough to complete a full 180 degree turn.   

When he had his head turned, his spine was in the shape of a question mark and while like this he could not breathe, or speak, however he was able to drink. He was also able to walk both forwards and backwards quite naturally while in this is position.  

Laurello was also an accomplished animal trainer. He trained his dog, Frisco, and cat, Lee, to perform acrobatics and circus tricks.  His last public appearance was on the TV show "You Asked For It" on 24th March 1952, where he twisted his head 180 degrees for the last time. He died of a heart attack a few short years later and was cremated in 1955, aged 70.
