Reprogram Thought Patterns to Master Your Mindset and Live a More Meaningful Life. With Michael Pilarcyk.
Today's guest is Michael Pilarcyk, Author of the book Master Your Mindset: Live a Meaningful Life. I’ve always believed that our mindset drives so much of how we live, so hearing michaels journey was fascinating. Michaels story is one of radical reinvention, deep self reflection and ultimately, enormous change. He shares the challenging turning points that led him to find his purpose and live a more meaningful life.  Michael, also known as "Mister Mindset," is a bestselling author, entrepreneur, and mindfulness and meditation coach. He's known for his work in personal growth and self-awareness, and is an expert in reprogramming thought patterns. We talk about the daily practices that matter most—like mental fitness, journaling, meditation, and gratitude—and how small changes can lead to powerful results. Michael also shares the practical tools and principles from his book, including the importance of clarity, self-discipline, visualization, and asking the right questions to uncover what you truly want. If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what’s next, this conversation is a reminder that change is possible at any age—and that who you become is the result of how you choose to think. What Death Can Teach Us About Love and Living Fully. With Frank Ostaseski
A special encore edition of Untangle. This was one of my favorite discussions. He’s also the leading voice in the end-of-life care movement. He shares comforting and inspiring truths on how we live and die and on what matters most. Navigating Emotions with Clarity, Courage and Compassion: Practical Strategies. With Dr. Alissa Jerud
Today, we're diving into a topic that’s close to home for so many of us—Navigating our emotions.  It’s one of the most common struggles we face, and every time we explore it on Untangle, the response is overwhelming.  My guest today is Dr. Alissa Jerud, a clinical psychologist, researcher, and the author of the book Emotionally Savvy Parenting. Her work focuses on helping us build practical, evidence-based strategies for navigating the storm of emotions that life inevitably brings. And, as you might guess, Anxiety is one of our most challenging emotions.  What I love about Alissa’s approach is that she doesn’t treat anxiety as something to “get rid of.” Or any difficult emotion for that matter. Instead, she helps us understand it, accept it, work with it, and even grow through it. We talk about the myths of coping, how we often make things worse without meaning to, and why the strategies we instinctively reach for might not be serving us. We also learn how to become more emotionally agile, and the powerful practice of doing the opposite of what your anxiety urges you to do. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by strong emotions and wanted to respond with more clarity, courage, and compassion, you’ll find this to be an interesting conversation.  Resource: Alissajerud.com As always, we’re untangle, the podcast from Muse the brain sensing headband that helps to transform your brain. Quiet The Inner Critic and Rise Above Anxiety. With Dr. Ellen Hendriksen. Part one.
Favorite Encore: Dr. Ellen Hendriksen is a clinical psychologist whose focus is on helping millions of people calm their anxiety so they can be more comfortable with their true selves. She serves on the faculty at Boston University's Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders and is the author of the book we discuss today, How to Be Yourself: Quiet the Inner Critic and Rise Above Social Anxiety. In this episode, we talk about the fear of being judged or rejected, and how to manage our somewhat distorted (and often annoying) negative thoughts. We’ve heard this before…your thoughts are NOT always true. Ellen discusses many ways to quiet the inner chatter that takes us down a rabbit hole and prevents us from living life, and enjoying it, to its fullest. She shares how we can actually rewire our brains through our behavior, make changes and let go of the 'monkey mind' inner critic. It’s not easy…but she suggests lots of small steps we can take. Turning Ideas to Action: How Your Mindset Impacts Creativity. With Zorana Ivcevic Pringle.
Todays guest is Zorana Ivcevic Pringle, a Senior Research Scientist on Creativity at Yale University and author of the book The Creativity Choice, The Science of Making Decisions to Turn ideas into action.  Zorana brings insights into the nature of the creative process, from the first decision to engage with new ideas to its culmination in creative performances and products.  The science of creativity shows that the key to successful creativity is the decision to act—and then deciding to act again and again, despite any physical, mental, or emotional obstacles, until ideas take shape and come to life. She shares some of the hidden parts of the creative process – from what it takes to get started on the journey of doing something with our ideas, to choosing which ideas to pursue to finding ways to persist when encountering inevitable difficulties along the way. I asked about the biggest obstacles and she shared that  we need strategies of problem finding and harnessing the power of emotions to persist through slumps and creative blocks. Finally, creativity is social even when it appears not to be. It’s no surprise that mindset makes a huge difference in how we stick with our creative process. Creativity is often misunderstood, but can enrich both our personal lives and the lives of others. There are lot’s of great nuggets here. There’s good news there.  She also shares insights on the phenomenon of habituation, explaining how we adapt to both positive and negative experiences in our lives and that this can have a very unexpected impact-  both good and bad. She explores the relationship between habituation and mental health, particularly in depression. She introduces the idea of 're-sparkling’— I love that word— as a way to bolster everyday experiences and bring more novelty into our lives.  She shares how re-sparkling can revitalize relationships and experiences and how creativity thrives on unexpected connections and changes.
