Kishawnie Henry grew up in the Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing projects, also known as the ghettos, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He became a product of his environment and was shot and paralyzed at seventeen.
While writing music was Kishawnie's first love, he decided to explore his talent as an author. In this episode, Kishawnie discusses his upbringing, and how it influenced his debut novel, Dark Paradise.
