Leadership in Crisis: Dr. Eva Moya on Migrant Struggles and Solutions at the Border

In this episode, we have the privilege of speaking with Dr. Eva Moya, a respected academic and leader in the El Paso, Texas community. Together, we discuss our recent trip to the border and the lessons we learned about the migrant experience in both El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. We reflect on the powerful impact of Dr. Moya’s work, along with the efforts of other community advocates in the region, and how these grassroots initiatives are making a tangible difference in the lives of migrants.

Hosted by Dr. Judith Flores

Guests:

  • Dr. Eva Moya - Eva is a professor at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her insights have led to significant contributions to the field, particularly in addressing border health issues.
  • Nathaly Rubio-Torio, LMSW - CEO and Founder of Voces Latinas, a 21-year-old, culturally responsive agency in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY, which serves over 8,000 immigrants annually.
