Understanding Train Station
Josh and Feli
80 episodes
In our podcast “Understanding Train Station”, we (Josh and Feli) explore the intricacies and pitfalls of living between cultures. The title is derived from the German idiom “Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof” which literally translates to “I only understand train station”. Similar to the English saying “It’s Greek to me”, it is used to express a lack of understanding which is an all too common feeling when dealing with another culture and living abroad. Feli (aka “Feli from Germany” on YouTube) is a German living in the U.S. and Josh is probably the most “Germanized” American you’ll ever meet.

*NO EPISODE THIS WEEK* Hey guys! Unfortunately, we didn't get to record a new episode for you this week (due to the time issue we mentioned last time) and I'll actually be on vacation next week so the next episode will come out in 2 weeks. Thank you for all of your kind comments and messages in response to last week's announcement about the upcoming end of the podcast. We're just as sad as you are but we do still have a few cool episodes planned! :) You guys had a lot of suggestions for guests so we're going to try and make those happen. And for two topics, we're actually still looking for guests: 1. We'd love to talk about differences in the application and recruitment process in Germany vs. the US and invite two people to the podcast who work in Human Resources in Germany and the US, respectively. If that's you or you know someone who would be a good fit for this, please shoot us an email at understandingtrainstation@gmail.com! 2. One of our viewers suggested to talk about American military families/military brats and we think that’s a fascinating topic. Did any of you grow up in a military family or do you know someone who did and who would be willing to tell us about their experience on the podcast? Shoot us an email! Thank you so much for your ongoing support! 😊
