Systems change requires new ways of thinking and doing to create a thriving world. We live in a time of interconnected crises - climate change, rising inequality and rapid urbanisation are urgently challenging our present and future. In Australia there are already more than 122,000 people without a safe, secure place to call home, and a chronic shortage of affordable housing. Join me in conversation with experts in the field as we unpack the relationship between homelessness and our changing climate. Together, we tell stories of our connection to place and planet as home.

After the floods | Thea Shields

Flooding has the capacity to devastate towns and communities - damaging critical infrastructure, impacting wellbeing, and leaving many people without a home. What is it like to prepare for and recover from a natural disaster? How can policy better support local action to mitigate the risks posed by climate change? Is there a world where nature and humans can coexist in the future?

Thea Shields is a Juris Doctor student and Research Assistant at Melbourne Climate Futures. Find out more about climate activism and research at the University of Melbourne here.
