Anticorruption in ecology: the power of the citizen

Environmental corruption is the focus of the second episode of the UNCHAINED podcast. In this episode, we delve into practical experiences rather than just theory, exploring the tools available to each of us in the fight against corruption in the environmental sector and our right to a clean and safe environment.

Andriy Biletskyi, the administrative director of the Interdisciplinary Scientific and Educational Center for Combating Corruption, shares valuable resources that can enhance transparency in environmental management and provide insights into the overall environmental situation in the country. Iryna Fedoriv, a journalist, activist, and editor-in-chief of the social movement CHESNO, discusses the unique aspects of conducting investigative journalism in the field of ecology. Drawing from her own experiences, Iryna highlights how to safeguard community resources, as she has been involved in a 15-year battle to preserve the Bilichan forest in the Kyiv region. Thanks to the efforts of activists, the forest is now a national park. It's not just a tale of success; it's a story of a 15-year struggle.
