In this episode of the Weird Gears Interview Series, we meet with Jasmine McDermott, a fourth year mechanical engineering student at the Schulich School of Engineering. Jasmine is the founder and president of the Calgary Indigenous STEAM Students' Association - University of Calgary. CISSA is a club dedicated to promoting Indigenous engagement and leadership in STEAM, building a community of Indigenous STEAM Students on campus, and providing opportunities for the advancement of Indigenous people in STEAM. We dive into Jasmine's experiences at the Schulich School of Engineering and how her student leadership involvement motivated her to start CISSA.
