020 - Different experiences of siblings in an alcoholic home
Welcome to episode 20 of the Two Roads Travelled podcast, the topic of discussion today is the different perceptions and experiences held by siblings in the same family. When there is a parent that drinks too much, why is it that the siblings all see the situation different, and find different coping strategies? Paula and Jo will be chatting to Nicole, she shares her story about living with her father who drank heavily. Nicole is originally from Western Australia, she has two brothers who she grew up with, and 4 other step/half siblings all of which are younger than her. She grew up with a violent alcoholic father, which Paula and Jo also experienced. Nicole's mother left her father three times, finally making the break when Nicole was only 6 years old. She now lives in London and has done for the past 19 years with her husband, she also writes for a living.
