Theater Thursday: Adult Children, Pasa Faho, Whitetail Reviews (Chicago International Film Festival Coverage)

In this Theater Thursday, we’re reviewing a couple more movies we were able to watch from the Chicago International Film Festival. We would have loved to have watched a few more, but our week, unfortunately, didn’t allow for it. Luckily, we were able to watch a few that are up for international consideration for the Oscars in March. Adult Children was filmed and set in Chicago, so it was really fun to see a film with “hometown advantage”. While this wasn’t one that we could really relate to since we don’t have siblings, we still really enjoyed this movie. It hit us harder than you might think and gave us a sense of longing for a large family that neither of us have. Pasa Faho was another one with familial themes. This one was an Australian film about a Nigerian father who has his son come to live with him and some unplanned things happen with his job. To us, this film really felt real and everyone can relate to having to keep going even when life throws you a curveball. Lastly, Hannah watched Whitetail which was a Dutch and Irish film. Whitetail was pretty heavy emotionally and it deals with some complex and dark themes that really make you think. The more Hannah sat with this one, the more she found she enjoyed it.

Stay tuned next week for more festival coverage! If you love us, leave us comments on social media and YouTube, or write a review with your 5-star rating.
