From Pop Art to World Peace with Bob Marongiu
Pop Art Painter Bob Marangiu is our guest today.  His Picasso-meets-Murakami works will make you smile, but there’s a lot more going on than meets the eye.  Listen in as we talk at the street café just outside his studio about the role of painting in a social context, the importance of happiness, and yes, bob’s brilliant and possibly viable recipe for world peace.

Now follow me to Cagliari where I know you’ll enjoy his stories as much as I did. Cheers
 In this episode you’ll hear about:

* The role of happiness in Bob’s artwork
* Filmmaker Lorenzo Jovannotti
* Joan Miro in London
* Hanna Barbera
* Wily Coyote
* Pink Floyd Producer Bob Ezrin
* His standing date as the background painter on the famous Sardinian TV Show “Come il Calcio Sui il Macaroni”
* How his career began with a show in Costa Smeralda
* Breaking through that definition of ‘real artist’ and how he thought he’d be a showman or a singer rather than a visual artist (ed note: you’re also a wonderful showman Bob)
* The joy of live painting, and how it’s more important meeting and showing people that if they have a dream they can achieve it. Rather than saying “Look how good I am, how nice my paintings are” he has a bigger dream
* The importance of nature and trading off New York exhibits for Gauguin style time in nature
* The upside of moving his studio back into his house
* His current work, based on his vision of lush Sardinia
* The consequences of messing with nature, dams and clearcutting in Sardinia
* The book Silenced Rivers by Patrick McCully
* His plan to build an Arts Industry alongside every Arms Industry around the world
* The Graniti Murales Artist in Residence program in Sicily
